Writings #1 — Getting Up Early is Essential

Written on February 8th, 2019

Hi, readers! Now I’m back with an interesting topic. Well, some of us, especially students may think that this topic isn’t really fun at all because it has something to do with a habit which they don’t really like or you can say, something they always do every day but actually they don’t really like it. Yup, as you can see on the title, “getting up early”.

Maybe it can be a trouble for some people who aren’t really used to it. But, it can be a favorite part of the day either, for those who are used to it. As far as I know, we, especially the college students, can be divided into two groups. Those who are classified into ‘an early bird’ and the rest are classified into ‘a night owl’.

An early bird means someone who always gets up earlier than others but also goes to bed earlier. While a night owl means someone who tends to stay up late, often gets up late, but not a few of them who can also get up early (including me).

In my opinion, the habit of an early bird or a night owl doesn’t correlate with the level of someone’s achievement or someone’s intelligence. But maybe it will affect at some point of matters in someone’s life. To be honest, I’m a night owl and I know some of my friends who are the night owls and also the early birds as well.

From what I’ve seen, there’s no big difference in terms of achievement and intelligence. I mean, we as a night owl can have the same level of achievement or even better, because we have longer time doing our progress so that we can do the best as we can, compared to the early birds.

But as I said before, at some points, those early birds or morning persons turn out that they have a lot more advantages than the night owls. That’s why I agree with, “getting up early is essential”.

The reason is because, based on some researches, the early birds generally will feel more peaceful and happier every day. Their mood is inevitably in a good condition throughout the day than the night owls.

They have less anxiety in their life because they have more productive starts to do something in the morning, which I think is healthier to our mind, body, and soul. They also have a good amount of sleep which is good to refresh their mind and the body systems.

By getting up early, they can manage themselves to have a productive life by setting intentions to do (or to-do lists) at the extra time they have in the morning to get things done faster and more effectively. They get plenty of time preparing things at the beginning of the day.

Not to mention that they have more intentions to do some stretch (jogging or something), breathe the fresh air, and also have a breakfast. This will definitely make the body healthier. It can also boost up the mood, bring the positivity throughout the day, and give us more energy to do daily activities.

After knowing these advantages, I’ve started to learn to become a fulltime early bird by minimizing my night owl habit. Wish me luck! ^^
